The strength of CPA’s voice comes from our biggest asset - our membership. A national association that represents more than 15,000 physiotherapists, physiotherapist assistants, physical rehabilitation therapists, and physiotherapy students, we depend on our members to help drive our messages at the local and provincial level.
Over the past few years, we have heard from our members that occasionally do not feel they have the advocacy skills needed to effectively deliver messages to politicians and local decision makers. They have asked CPA to prepare training to help them feel confident in acting as advocates for the profession.
We are pleased to share that we will be delivering a grassroots advocacy training session at our upcoming Forum 2019 (June 27-29, Charlottetown, PEI). This session will give you the basic tools and information you need to be effective and confident ambassadors for the profession. With the upcoming federal election in the fall of 2019, the timing couldn’t be better.
Politicians will be knocking on doors across the country this summer in advance of the election . This presents an amazing opportunity for our members to educate the future Members of Parliament about physiotherapy and the solutions we can provide to the health care system in Canada. The tools provided will send a strong message to the candidates and future government.
If you can’t make it to Forum 2019, no worries. We will be posting an advocacy/election toolkit on our website following the event.
