Dr. Karen Pape is globally respected neonatologist and clinical neuroscientist whose pioneering work has been improving the outlook of children with early brain damage since the early 1990's. She has published in peer-reviewed journals, lectured widely and conducted over 200 training workshops and conferences for parents, therapists and physicians throughout North America nad internationally in 12 countries.

Mental Health First Aid Canada

Register to attend a 12 hr  Mental Health First Aid Course basic that will educate you and provide you with confidence through role play, video and teaching about signs, symptoms and early detection of Mental Health issues/problems.  It is through awareness and creating a forum for understanding that we can all help to decrease fear and stigma.

Course fee: 250.00, includes a great read book and a certificate from The Mental Health Commission of Canada.

Class size: min 8, max 25

Instructor: Teresa Malone RN, an experienced Mental Health Nurse who works in partnership with Police responding to crisis/mental health for individuals requiring our help.  Teresa has been teaching the course at various Community Agencies, Queens park, VIA Rail and for the Public.

Aquatic Physical Therapy in Neurology: Evidence-Based Practice

Date: Saturday, June 24, 2017

Cost:  $265, lunch included

Location: Malton Warm Water Pool and Community Centre, 3545 Morning Star Drive, Mississauga, Ontario

This course will combine Neuro-Rehabilitation theory, hydrodynamics and aquatic research and apply these to the treatment goals of our neurological clients. We will address how to maximize hydrodynamics to target motor sequence, strength, and tone to enable functional goals, manipulating the heightened sensory stimulus of the water. There will be 2 in-pool session times totalling 5 hours. The Rehab and Post-Rehab settings, small group and individual treatment, spasticity, balance and motor relearning goals will be addressed.
