Pourquoi avez-vous particip\u00e9 au programme?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00c0 mon avis, l\u2019engagement dans le perfectionnement professionnel et la formation continue est l\u2019une des principales caract\u00e9ristiques d\u2019un sp\u00e9cialiste clinique; c\u2019est entre autres pour faire reconna\u00eetre officiellement cela que j\u2019ai pos\u00e9 ma candidature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

O\u00f9 esp\u00e9rez-vous voir la profession dans 25 ans?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Je suis s\u00fbre que notre champ de pratique continuera \u00e0 s\u2019\u00e9tendre, notamment quant \u00e0 notre r\u00f4le dans les soins primaires. La collaboration interprofessionnelle augmentera, aussi bien en classe que dans les milieux cliniques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Selon vous, quel impact aura la sp\u00e9cialisation dans votre domaine?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

L\u2019ensemble du processus m\u2019a donn\u00e9 de l\u2019\u00e9nergie, et je suis enthousiaste \u00e0 l\u2019id\u00e9e de me lancer dans de nouveaux projets pour approfondir mes connaissances et mes comp\u00e9tences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quelle est la valeur du programme de sp\u00e9cialit\u00e9 pour les candidats?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

M\u00eame si le programme est intimidant et incite \u00e0 la modestie, il s\u2019agit d\u2019une exp\u00e9rience d\u2019apprentissage tr\u00e8s pr\u00e9cieuse, professionnellement et personnellement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Avez-vous fait appel \u00e0 votre r\u00e9seau de sp\u00e9cialistes, et comment?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

J\u2019ai pris contact avec d\u2019autres sp\u00e9cialistes en p\u00e9diatrie \u00e0 quelques occasions pour discuter de probl\u00e8mes cliniques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quels facteurs importants faut-il prendre en compte lorsqu\u2019on souhaite faire une sp\u00e9cialit\u00e9 clinique?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Je pense qu\u2019il est judicieux d\u2019acqu\u00e9rir une exp\u00e9rience diversifi\u00e9e avant de se concentrer sur une sp\u00e9cialit\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quelles comp\u00e9tences avez-vous acquises ou am\u00e9lior\u00e9es pendant le processus de sp\u00e9cialisation?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il m\u2019a clairement permis d\u2019am\u00e9liorer ma r\u00e9flexion critique et mes comp\u00e9tences de raisonnement clinique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quel conseil donneriez-vous aux candidats qui s\u2019engagent dans le processus de sp\u00e9cialisation?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

M\u00eame s\u2019il demande beaucoup de temps, le processus est tr\u00e8s satisfaisant. Une fois que vous aurez pris la d\u00e9cision de demander ce titre, je vous encourage \u00e0 \u00e9tudier toutes les comp\u00e9tences demand\u00e9es et \u00e0 tenir un journal des moments cl\u00e9s et des tournants de votre vie professionnelle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quel impact a le titre de sp\u00e9cialiste sur vous et votre carri\u00e8re?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il a beaucoup enrichi ma pratique de la physioth\u00e9rapie et m\u2019a offert de nombreuses occasions de travail en clinique, d\u2019enseignement et de mentorat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Biographie<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Barbara Kelly est dipl\u00f4m\u00e9e du Coll\u00e8ge universitaire de Dublin, en Irlande (dipl\u00f4me en physioth\u00e9rapie en 1977) et de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 Dalhousie (B. Sc. en physioth\u00e9rapie en 1990 et M. Sc., recherche en r\u00e9adaptation en 2008). Elle a commenc\u00e9 sa carri\u00e8re de clinicienne aupr\u00e8s d\u2019adultes souffrant de troubles neurologiques. Arriv\u00e9e au Canada en 1979, elle a d\u2019abord travaill\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019H\u00f4pital g\u00e9n\u00e9ral de Kingston, en Ontario, puis au Nova Scotia Rehabilitation Centre de Halifax, en Nouvelle-\u00c9cosse. C\u2019est apr\u00e8s avoir exerc\u00e9 au Cameroun et au Botswana de 1983 \u00e0 1986 et de 1991 \u00e0 1993 que Barbara a r\u00e9alis\u00e9 qu\u2019elle aimait la physioth\u00e9rapie p\u00e9diatrique; en 1996, elle a commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 travailler au IWK Health Centre, o\u00f9 elle est toujours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Barbara est physioth\u00e9rapeute \u00e0 la clinique de paralysie c\u00e9r\u00e9brale de l\u2019IWK et suit \u00e9galement en consultation externe des patients atteints de troubles neurod\u00e9veloppementaux. Elle est aussi enseignante clinicienne \u00e0 l\u2019\u00c9cole de physioth\u00e9rapie de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 Dalhousie depuis 2008.
Barbara s\u2019int\u00e9resse principalement \u00e0 la paralysie c\u00e9r\u00e9brale. Elle a particip\u00e9 comme chercheuse principale \u00e0 deux essais cliniques dans ce domaine. Elle est chercheuse \u00e0 l\u2019IWK et \u00e9valuatrice dans un certain nombre de recherches multicentriques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
