On m’a demand\u00e9 d’\u00eatre \u00e9valuatrice et je devais d’abord suivre le programme. Je ne suis pas certaine que je l’aurais suivi sinon, mais maintenant que je l’ai fait, j’en suis tr\u00e8s contente.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

O\u00f9 esp\u00e9rez-vous voir la profession dans 25 ans?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Je souhaiterais que le premier r\u00e9flexe des gens ayant des troubles musculosquelettiques soit d’aller consulter un physioth\u00e9rapeute.

La sp\u00e9cialisation peut amener les physioth\u00e9rapeutes qui se croient sp\u00e9cialistes \u00e0 faire davantage de recherches pour obtenir ce titre. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quelle est la valeur du programme de sp\u00e9cialit\u00e9 pour les candidats?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elle prouve aux yeux des coll\u00e8gues et du public qu’ils ont travaill\u00e9 plus fort au fil des ans que les autres physioth\u00e9rapeutes pour parvenir \u00e0 ce titre. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mon titre de sp\u00e9cialiste m’a donn\u00e9 plus de cr\u00e9dibilit\u00e9 aupr\u00e8s des avocats.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Biographie <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

J’ai obtenu un B. Sc. en physioth\u00e9rapie de l’Universit\u00e9 Dalhousie en 1987.  Mon premier emploi \u00e9tait dans un h\u00f4pital de Revelstoke, en Colombie-Britannique. J’avais comme objectif de faire du ski et de suivre les cours de th\u00e9rapie manuelle offerts par les meilleurs mentors au pays. Deux ans plus tard, je suis revenue \u00e0 Halifax (N.-\u00c9.) et j’ai commenc\u00e9 ma carri\u00e8re dans le secteur priv\u00e9 avec Michael Ritchie. J’ai pass\u00e9 l’examen interm\u00e9diaire de th\u00e9rapie manuelle en 1991, puis j’ai \u00e9pous\u00e9 Steve. J’ai ouvert ma premi\u00e8re clinique, Beaverbank Orthopaedic and Sport Physiotherapy, en 1993. J’ai donn\u00e9 naissance \u00e0 ma fille, Ali, en 1994 et \u00e0 mon fils, Sam, en 1996 \u2013 deux mois avant le passage de mon examen avanc\u00e9 de th\u00e9rapie manuelle. J’ai fait mes \u00e9tudes de ma\u00eetrise entre 1998 et 2001.  Ma th\u00e8se porte sur les techniques d’\u00e9tirement pour l’extension de la hanche. En 2002, j’ai ouvert ma seconde clinique, Young Kempt Physiotherapy, o\u00f9 je travaille actuellement. Je travaille \u00e9galement \u00e0 l’Universit\u00e9 Dalhousie, o\u00f9 j’ai commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 enseigner en 1990. Je suis devenue instructrice de la division orthop\u00e9die de l’ACP en 1997 et j’ai \u00e9t\u00e9 promue examinatrice en 2002 et examinatrice en chef en 2014. J’ai re\u00e7u mon titre de sp\u00e9cialiste clinique en 2012. Je crois fermement au travail b\u00e9n\u00e9vole dans notre profession. J’ai d’ailleurs fait partie de nombreux comit\u00e9s, dont le comit\u00e9 directeur de la division nationale d\u2019orthop\u00e9die \u00e0 deux reprises et le Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy pendant huit ans. Lorsque je ne suis pas au travail, j’aime jouer au tennis, faire du ski nautique et du ski sur neige, promener mes chiens, mais par dessus tout passer du temps avec ma famille, surtout quand nous jouons \u00e0 des jeux.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
