Hello,
As a physiotherapist in the private sector, I was temporarily laid off, along with many of my colleagues. I decided to help out in residential and long-term care centres (CHSLDs) in Quebec, where the situation is critical.
I now work as an orderly, but I also make good use of my physiotherapy experience. Patients who used to spend nearly all day in bed are now up early in the morning to eat in their chair, and I try to help them be active by taking them on walks or getting them to do easy functional exercises. Throughout the crisis, I’ve been able to play a small role in helping make seniors’ days more pleasant.
Sincerely,
Samuel Trottier-Lapointe
