Stuart has always had a passion for working with children and youth and had a number of opportunities to do so through the City of Winnipeg recreation programs, as well as when he was fortunate enough to work in the L.I.F.E program through the Rehabilitation Centre for Children in Winnipeg in his final year of his Bachelors of Kinesiology degree. This opportunity to work with children and youth living with both physical and intellectual impairments further motivated him to pursue a career in paediatric physical therapy. During his physical therapy training, Stuart was able to complete two placements in paediatrics.
One placement involved working with a youth football program, while the other involved working with School Therapy Services to develop physiotherapy interventions for children and youth living with a variety of neurological conditions. Stuart graduated from the University of Manitoba’s Masters of Physical Therapy program in 2016. Since graduating, he has begun working with School Therapy Services, as well as the Provincial Outreach Therapy for Children program, and is now working with children from birth to the age of 21 living with a variety of neurological and orthopaedic conditions. Stuart is both committed and motivated to continue pursuing opportunities that will allow him to help children and their families to reach their goals.
