The Schroth Method is a specialized physical therapy approach for treating scoliosis and other spinal deformities. It is one of the most widely recognized and utilized methods under the umbrella of PSSE (Physiotherapy Scoliosis Specific Exercises). The method is grounded in principles of 3-Dimensional (3D) spinal correction, aiming to address the complex nature of scoliosis from multiple perspectives—structural, muscular, and functional. The Schroth Method exercises are performed in a variety of positions, each highlighting how muscles work against gravity with Schroth breathing technique, to improve posture, to open trunk concavities and promote axial elongation, de-rotation and deflection of the scoliosis.
This pathway ensures that PTs are not only equipped with theoretical knowledge but are also highly competent in the practical application of the Schroth Method, improving care for patients with scoliosis and spinal conditions.
