Allison-Stene

Allison Stene, President
Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

Allison was elected to the Board in 2021. She graduated with a Degree in Biology in 2004 and a Bachelor of Physical Therapy in 2007 from the University of Saskatchewan; she then completed her Masters of Rehabilitation Science from McMaster University in 2014.

Allison worked as a clinician in the acute hospital setting with a special interest in critical care for over a decade. Allison’s passion in leadership then led her into a variety of leadership and administration roles within the Saskatchewan Public Health system and she currently holds the role of Director for Ambulatory Care, Endoscopy and Therapies.

Allison has been very involved in the professional Association since her role as President of the National Student Assembly in 2006/2007. She also served two terms as President of the Saskatchewan Physiotherapy Association from 2011 to 2016.

George-Roumeliotis

George Roumeliotis
Saint-Laurent, Québec 

George was elected to the Board in June 2021. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology (Honours) in 2018 and a master’s degree in Physiotherapy in 2020 from McGill University.

His area of focus as a clinician is on neurological rehabilitation. Since graduating, he has worked as a Physiotherapist and coordinator across multiple public sector rehab settings in the Montreal area: the inpatient stroke teams at the Jewish Rehabilitation Hospital in Laval, Quebec and the Richardson Hospital in Montreal, as well as the outpatient neurology team at the Constance Lethbridge Rehabilitation Centre in Montreal. Currently, he is the Patient Trajectory Manager at the Villa Medica Rehabilitation Hospital in Montreal.

Outside of his clinical work, George is an active member of his community. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Centre d’Activités Récréatives et Éducatives, and the Services Sociaux Helléniques du Québec. He also teaches graduate-level modules on Parkinson’s Disease at the Université de Montréal.

George is the current Chair of the Insurance Oversight Committee, and a member of the Finance and Audit Committee.

Jason-Nenzel

Jason Nenzel
Victoria, British Columbia

Jason was elected to the Board in 2022. Jason is a registered physical therapist specializing in orthopaedics, which involves pain management, performance optimization, intramuscular stimulation, manual therapy, and corrective exercise. In addition to his position on the Board, and his area of interest with respect to the practice of physiotherapy, Jason owns South Island Physiotherapy which is a multidisciplinary health care clinic located in beautiful Victoria, British Columbia.

While attending the University of Alberta, where he received his Master’s of Science in Physical Therapy, Jason held the position of President for both the Rehabilitation Medicine Student Association, as well as the Physical Therapy Graduate Committee. Prior to graduating from the University of Alberta, Jason graduated from Vancouver Island University as Valedictorian and received his undergraduate degree in Sport, Health, and Physical Education. Jason has pursued continuing education in several areas related to orthopaedics. These include advanced training in Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS), Spinal Manipulation Techniques (SMT), Glenohumeral (shoulder) joint management, and the continual appraisal of new research as it’s published.

Jason currently sits on the Governance Committee.

Johanna Lim
Toronto, Ontario

Johanna was elected to the Board in 2024. With a diverse background in finance, audit, risk, and compliance spanning various sectors, she is eager to contribute her skills and expertise to enrich the CPA.

Johanna currently leads the internal audit function at the Canadian Red Cross and ensures its effectiveness across the organization. She has also led integrated audit, risk, and compliance programs at the Toronto Transit Commission to enhance its operations. She played a key role in establishing the corporate compliance and ethics programs at the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board and has engaged in strategic consultations with numerous clients at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP to support their operations.

While she considers her professional growth essential, she finds equal fulfillment in dedicating her time to serve as a volunteer Board Director for multiple not-for-profit organizations. Drawing on her blend of professional and volunteer experiences, Johanna is committed to supporting the CPA and taking part in its efforts to enrich the lives of the people it touches every day.

Jordan Burgess
Ottawa, Ontario

Jordan was elected to the Board in 2024. He was raised in Parry Sound, Ontario, and currently owns Amped Physiotherapy in Ottawa, where he has lived for the past 23 years. He earned his B.A.(Hons)PE at Western, and his experience with the physiotherapists at the Fowler-Kennedy clinic solidified his career choice to become a physiotherapist. He completed his B.Sc.PT from the University of Toronto in 1998. His physiotherapy experience now spans over twenty-five years in a variety of practice settings; sports injury clinics in Toronto and Ottawa, treating everyone from weekend warriors to professional and national team athletes; an industrial workplace clinic inside a linear assembly plant working with management and the workers to treat and prevent musculoskeletal injuries; and the outpatient physiotherapy department at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto, treating complex and major traumas.

While instructing in the CPA’s Orthopaedic Division curriculum in 2008, he opened Momentum Physiotherapy in south Ottawa, delivering expert care to clients outside of the city core. In 2016, following his passion for sports and injury prevention in youth, he became a founder of Amped Sports Lab, a one stop facility for athletic training and athlete development.

Bringing years of experience in both public and private physiotherapy delivery and having lived through the challenges of being both an entrepreneur and a health care provider during the COVID pandemic, Jordan has a long-held belief that physiotherapists are the best positioned of all the health professions to be the initial point of contact for the management of musculoskeletal disorders in Canada. He is excited and proud to be a member of the CPA’s Board of Directors.

Laura-Kean

Laura Kean
Edmonton, Alberta

Laura was elected to the Board in 2023. Laura was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia and is now living and working in Edmonton, Alberta. She graduated from the University of British Columbia with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology in 2015 and with a Master of Physical Therapy in 2018.

Throughout her career, Laura has worked in both private and public practice. Her primary focus has been in neurorehabilitation. Specifically, she is interested in balance training and falls prevention using a fitness-forward and neurophysiology-informed treatment approach. She is a strong believer that age or disability shouldn’t define participation. Her goal as a physiotherapist is to keep people moving for life with confidence.

Laura has always been passionate about being involved with her professional association. She served as a student representative on the board of directors for the Physiotherapy Association of British Columbia from 2016 to 2018 and remained involved on the planning committee for their annual educational conference before moving to Alberta. She is on the steering committee for Finding Balance Alberta, a public awareness initiative to educate and empower older adults to remain independent and reduce injury and falls.

Laura believes strongly in the CPA’s vision of physiotherapists being essential partners for optimizing health. Laura wants physiotherapy to be known as the go-to profession for not only pain management but also successful aging, chronic disease management, injury and illness prevention and optimizing wellness for all.

Dr. Liliane Asseraf-Pasin
Saint-Laurent, Québec

Liliane was elected to the Board in 2024. She completed her BSc. PT in 1982. She holds an M.Ed. and a Ph.D. in Education, Leadership Concentration (2012) from McGill University. Her most significant contributions have been in the areas of education, advocacy and mentorship. She started at McGill University in 1999 as Faculty Lecturer and Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education. Liliane Asseraf-Pasin facilitated the transitioning of the Bachelor PT program to the Master’s PT Applied program in 2012 and played a key role in the development of the McGill/UQAC physiotherapy extension program at the Université du Québec at Chicoutimi (UQAC). She then held the position of Associate Director of the PT Program (2012-2017) and is presently Director of the Physiotherapy & Equivalency Programs (2017 -). She is an executive member of the Office of Interprofessional Education in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. Her main research interests are interprofessional education, cultural sensitivity, and developing pedagogical strategies to support student learning, teaching, and clinical supervision.

To conclude, Liliane Asseraf-Pasin is an inspiring leader with more than 40 years of commitment to advancing her profession. Her exceptional contribution to the physiotherapy profession was acknowledged at the provincial and national levels. In 2016, she received the Prix Excellence from the Ordre professionnel de la physiothérapie du Québec, which highlights the work of professionals that contribute particularly to the development of and influence the profession. In 2017. She was awarded the McGill University Award for Equity and Community Building, which recognizes the active involvement of a person in promoting diversity and inclusivity within the McGill community. Finally, on November 6, 2021, she received the National Professional Contribution Award, from the Canadian Physiotherapy Association, which recognizes individuals who have enhanced the profession and the practice of physiotherapists through an impactful, unique and outstanding contribution over a notable period of time.

Mario-Milioto

Maria Milioto
Laval, Québec

Maria was elected to the Board in 2022. She has been a physical therapist since 1995 upon graduating from McGill University. Since then, she has been working in management and is passionate about leadership and rehabilitation.

In 2003, she worked as a rehab manager in a Montreal hospital, and in 2006, opened up interdisciplinary program clinics. In 2018, she joined Physiothérapie Universelle and joined Lifemark as VP Operations in Quebec. In October 2022, she moved into a National role as VP Interdisciplinary rehabilitation services growing the Occupational Therapy, Mental Health and Vocational programs.

As of November 2023, she moved into the VP Operations National Programs, overseeing all programs at Lifemark Health Group.

Maria has been involved with Cancer and Rehabilitation through the Coalition Priorité Cancer organization. This helped patients understand how physical therapy can play a major role in their rehabilitation. She also worked with Association Physiothérapie Montreal participating in a panel on the Future of Physiotherapy.

Maria is passionate about board management, leadership, collaborative and change management and looks forward to helping the Board attain it’s strategic Mission and Vision.

Dr. Vicki Wong
Ottawa, Ontario

Vicki was elected to the Board in 2024. Originally from New Brunswick, she graduated from the School of Physiotherapy at Dalhousie University in 2003. After graduation, Vicki moved to Ottawa where she has worked extensively in private practice. As a clinician, she has been a physiotherapist for many local sports teams and events and is a member of Sport Physiotherapy Canada (SPC). In addition to providing direct care, she has clinic ownership and management experience that taught her valuable knowledge about the profession and business worlds.

Vicki has always had a strong interest in research from the time of her first degree (BSc HK) at the University of Ottawa. Her first area of research was involving motor control that led to applying to physiotherapy with the intention of working in neurosciences. While working as a physiotherapist, Vicki returned to graduate school to complete a Master’s degree in Human Kinetics (cancer rehabilitation) and a PhD in Neurosciences (persistent concussion symptoms in adults). She continues to span both the research and clinical environments in new opportunities.

Being a member of CPA has always been important to Vicki and stems from the strong involvement in the association by her professors at Dal. In addition to SPC, Vicki is a member of the Neurosciences Division. She believes this is a great time for innovation, collaboration, and change for the profession, and Association, and looks forward to meeting many Members from across Canada during her time on the Board.

William Montminy
Saint-Hyacinthe, Québec

William was appointed to the Board in 2024. He graduated as a Physiotherapy Technologist (Phys. T) in 2017. Working currently in a private clinic, he received the Innovation and Outreach award in 2023 from Physiotherapie Universelle for his contribution to the development of physiotherapy access in a small community in Northen Quebec.

In charge of a population stretching over 375 km, William had to be creative to ensure a high quality of care for his clients. Among other things, tele-rehabilitation and a system of Phys. T management through collaboration with doctors was put in place to make physiotherapy care possible.

While his area of focus is generally with orthopedic patients, William also works with physiotherapists on different committees, including continuing training and Phys. T mentoring.

William truly believes in the important role Physiotherapy Technologists and Physiotherapist Assistants can play into the evolution of rehabilitation in Canada. He believes that working together, we can improve the future of physiotherapy.
