Why did you pursue the designation?
I believe the program provided good recognition for all my work throughout my career, really good self-review process to see where I was in my career. Also, I like challenges!
What did you find most valuable in the program?
The feedback given back from my peers was really helpful and I thought it would be a good exercise to go through and reflect on my career.
Where do you hope to see the profession in 25 years?
I think that the program helps us market the vast knowledge our profession has. It also shows the medical community the level of postgraduate learning that is involved and puts physiotherapy in more of a consulting position. My hope is that this becomes the target achievement for physiotherapists in their various areas of special interest and I would like to see physiotherapists become leaders in diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries instead of physicians.
What’s the best advice you have ever received?
If you think you know everything about a particular career… QUIT! You must love to learn all through life.
