Federal Election 2025

The CPA published a non-partisan Toolkit to support physiotherapy professionals across Canada in being informed and empowered during the election. Social media shareables for virtually engaging with candidates.The CPA hosted a webinar on federal election mobilization tailored for physiotherapy professionals and students.
Together in consultation with physiotherapy professionals and profession leaders in Canada, the CPA has led the creation of a national scope of practice definition for the profession, including identification of the activities and skills practised by physiotherapists across Canada.

This report, prepared by Deloitte Consulting on behalf of the CPA, studies the clinical evidence for the cost-effectiveness of physiotherapy treatments and physiotherapy’s impact on the burden of illness. The analysis models the impact of physiotherapy interventions on patient outcomes and expansion of physiotherapy access on three specific diseases: osteoporosis, back pain, and coronary heart disease.

In August 2024, the Canadian Physiotherapy Association delivered three formal recommendations to the House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance that seek to optimize the role and expertise of physiotherapy professionals in Canada. Implementing these reforms would reduce wait times, improve equitable access and provide cost-effective, high-quality patient care.
An essential voice in pandemic prevention and planning is that of physiotherapy professionals. This was highlighted in a submission to the Standing Committee on Health regarding Bill C-293 by the Global Health Division of the CPA.
Physiotherapy professionals play a crucial role in addressing a range of women’s health issues. In October 2023, the Women’s Health Division of the CPA submitted five recommendations to the Federal Standing Committee on Health.
