OTTAWA, ON – Physiotherapy is an existing, essential service that can strengthen the Canadian healthcare system and ensure that all Canadians get the care they need. The Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA) is ramping up its advocacy efforts with the federal government, putting forth formal recommendations to several committees, including a Pre-Budget Submission that was recently delivered to the Federal Standing Committee on Finance. The CPA is taking charge of highlighting the power of the physiotherapy profession to deliver innovative treatment solutions to the challenged healthcare system.

The CPA Pre-Budget Submission is summarized in the infographic below, titled: “Physiotherapy – A Treatment for Canada’s Healthcare System”. Highlighted within are key recommendations to the committee with evidence to support the impact potential of physiotherapy. The infographic, which was created with the input of physiotherapists across Canada, will be a vital tool in fueling ongoing advocacy efforts and in elevating the profile of the profession with the federal government.

“Physiotherapists possess the scope and capability to address key challenges within the Canadian healthcare system,” said Krissy Bell, CEO of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. “During this critical planning period in the federal government, the CPA is focused on advocating for the inclusion of the profession in strategizing and developing solutions that will help address some of these challenges. The strength of our recommendations comes from data-backed insights which prove the efficacy of physiotherapy and demonstrates the tangible impact it can have on the overall wellbeing of Canadians. We are excited to continue dialoguing with government leaders to help build a stronger healthcare system.”
