The Physiotherapist provides comprehensive diagnostic and intervention services to clients with acute and chronic disorders of musclo-skeletal, neurological or cardiopulmonary systems to attain, maintain or regain optimum levels of health. Physiotherapists are also expected to participate actively in quality improvement initiatives and facilitate the delivery of quality services with the multidisciplinary team. Physiotherapy services are provided in accordance with legislation, standards, guidelines and ethics of the CCHSA, provincial licensing body, Canadian Physiotherapy Association and policies of the Hay River Health & Social Services Authority.

Qualifications:

·      Knowledge of current Physiotherapy theory and standards of practice.

  Time management and well developed organization skills to manage a large and varied caseload.

  Ability to solve problems through flexibility, adaptability and creativity to work within available resources.

  Ability to communicate through verbal and written means to effectively provide physiotherapy services to a multidimensional patient population.

  Knowledge of cross cultural issues and potential ramifications for treatment planning and implementation.

  Ability to work with a multidisciplinary team.

  Knowledge of and ability to apply supervisory skills.

  Current CPR certificate.

  Registration/Licensure with an appropriate Canadian provincial regulatory body.

  Active membership in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association.

 

This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of a Baccalaureate or Master’s Degree in Physiotherapy from a recognized university. Two years’ experience in a variety of practice contexts and populations is preferred.
