Health Sciences North (HSN) is seeking innovative individuals for various permanent and temporary full-time OPEN Affiliation position to provide specialized assessment, treatment, and intervention for older adults with multiple complex health needs and provide resources for professionals and caregivers. The successful candidates will teach patients to optimize functional independence and physical performance promoting optimal mobility, physical activity and overall health and wellness. You will manage outreach clinics; support partners in care and provide education and capacity building for health care providers regarding geriatrics.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a four (4) year Bachelor’s degree in health related field (e.g. Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN), Bachelor of Social Work (BSW)) from an accredited university and current Certificate of Registration in good standing with a regulatory college (e.g. CPO, College of Nurses, College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, College of Occupational Therapist). Successful completion of the Geriatric Assessor training course, Core Indigenous Cultural Competency Training Program, and the P.I.E.C.E.S. Training program are required. We are looking for someone with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience working within HSN’s Specialized Geriatric Services and completing assessment and treatment guided by the Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment.

Candidates that possess Certification as an Assistive Devices Program (ADP) authorizer are preferred.

REHABILITATION PROFESSIONALS INCENTIVE GRANT

The incentive grant program offers taxable incentive grants of up to $5,000 per eligible year, to a maximum of $15,000 paid over a three-year period to audiologists, chiropodists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and speech language pathologists who establish their practice in Northern Ontario and accept full-time positions which are fully funded by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) and which are approved by the Northern Health Programs (NHP). In order to be eligible for this incentive grant, the NHP must approve the application before the applicant establishes his/her practice.   More information regarding this grant can be found here.
